The noble gas lab supports a variety of applied and basic science programs at the National Ignition Facility  (NIF). For the National Ignition Campaign, we are developing a Xe-based nuclear diagnostic to assess implosion performance. Other projects at NIF are focused on quantifying fission product yields and nuclear cross sections of importance to national security missions and the broader academic community. Our on-site gas collection and nuclear counting facilities, coupled with the nearly instantaneous high-flux neutron source provided by the NIF, is enabling measurements that were previously not possible.
